Covers all the DevOps workflow but not specialized

What differentiates Azure DevOps from other similar products?

This comes in as ecosysmtem of microsoft product suite. Meaning if you are already a Microsoft customer then you will get all the integrations in the Azure Devops itself. You can customize your workflow, track tickets & bugs and add CI/CD pipelines for it. Since its part of mircrosoft ecosystem you get seamless integration with almost all of the similar Microsoft products.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I have been using Azure DevOps for past 7 years now, and the most used feature is the CI/CD pipeline setup. It provides easy to configure the pipeline options also it lets you integrate third party pipeline into it. Another feature that stands out is the bug tracking and Kanban dashboard where you can track your sprints and entire team can see the progress.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Azure DevOps is a generalized tool so it misses all the features that specialized tool has it. You won't get features similar to Jira into Azure DevOps bug tracking and sprint management. SImilary Azure DevOps CICD misses advanced configuration options that we see in the Jenkins. So all in all it has breath of features but it lacks depth in the features.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If you or your organization is already a Microsoft customer then going for Azure DevOps is obvious. This will cover all the features that you might need to manage your daily DevOps and agile workflow. If you are looking a single tool to handle all your needs then it will be really helpful But if you need more in advanced options then go for specialized tools. Also be mindful about Azure Devops costing, it is reasonable but depends on customer and use case mostly.

Pros

  • Helps Innovate
  • Continually Improving Product
  • Reliable
  • Performance Enhancing

Cons

  • Less Efficient Service
  • Commodity Features
